March 10th
After eating what my friend described as “an extremely large dose” of a psychoactive plant material, we wandered up a hill (it was windy) following a trail that led to what might have been the highest point in the city.
Once we were at the top, we talked about a wide variety of topics, then ate some fruit bars. They were delicious.
That’s when I definitely saw a UFO. I pointed it out to my friend who was looking off into the distance, not at the sky, but at the water and a nearby city in the distance.
She was unfazed by what I had told her. She never looked up at the triangular flying object, she just kept looking across the water, sort of blankly.
I stared at the UFO until I remembered to take photographs. Luckily I had a good camera.
“I am being reminded,” my friend said “of someone dear to me who killed herself a few years ago. The last time I saw her, she came to my apartment to see if she could sublet the place while I was scheduled to be on a trip for a few months.
“We sat on the floor in the middle of the living room and ate lunch. She emailed me a week later saying she wouldn’t need the place after all.
“I found out that she committed suicide two months later.”
I put the camera away and scooted closer to my friend. Her eyes were wet.
